My favorite jetty at our lake. Not always accessible. It is the end piece of jetty with sailing boats. Access is restricted to “Opening Hours”. They open later and close earlier than sunrise and sunset. This time they owner stayed a bit longer… fishing. Lucky me! I asked him if I could enter the jetty to capture a few images. After a friendly approval I shot 3 long exposures. This one is for a duration of 30 seconds at f6.4 using a LEE big stopper. (the others where 20 and 10 seconds)

It is also the only one which includes the rope as a foreground interest. What a difference to those without the rope. Happy days. Reinhold

You are the rocks in floating water

A credit to my followers and to all people who comment and like my images. Thank you!

This is the second image of day 1. We had quiet heavy wind and waves. I decided to take a closer look at the rocks in the foreground of my first image. Actually… I always wanted to shoot an image like this. A simple and minimalistic composition with all the aspects of a long exposure image. 50mm, f5.6, 30 sec, ISO 200, 10 sec timer. Same camera, same lens. Same location. After that the light was gone. I did one other “test” shot. But I think of it more as an experiment than a planned composition. I add this one as well. Interested what you think about it! Happy days. Reinhold

This is the pier of my first image. This time straight from the front. 80mm, f5.6, 30 sec, ISO 200, 10 sec timer. Same camera, same lens. Same location.

Late Arrival

We arrived late on Saturday afternoon. We took a 2 days trip to the Baltic Sea and stayed in a small but very comfortable hotel next to the beach. In the summer a very busy location. At this time of year very relaxed and not many other people around. I used the remaining light for the first shot (of two that day).  Fuji X-T1, the Fuji 50-230mm consumer zoom, tripod, no filter, 75mm, f5.6, 30 seconds, auto ISO, 10 sec timer. I took 5 shots in these 2 days. I will keep one shot for my local “print” portfolio. The other 3 will be published until Friday this week. Happy days. Reinhold

Winter Storm

Develop my personal style

Image 4/20 – An image you might have seen before. I had one shot only. Heavy wind and rain. LEE Filter: ND Grad and Big Stopper. Long exposure: 30 seconds. Used my body and a big umbrella to cover the camera and tripod. Pier was shaking. After this one shot camera and lens and filter were wet. Couldn’t wait to get home to see if I managed to get a decent shot. It fits into my new style. No major adjustments to the image. That’s the reason why I post it again.

This image is part of my series: Develop my personal style

If you like to see the other images of my series… there is a new gallery in the sidebar of my blog. I will add each new image on a daily basis.

Lake Views

Zwischenahner Meer – our local lake – a few miles from home. These images cover the autumn / winter season. In spring and summer the pier is packed with boats and tourists. I prefer these two seasons for one simple reason. Sometimes I am the only person watching the sunset or sunrise. They are an exception and not the rule.

Winter Storm

RSP - Reinhold Staden Photography - Winter Storm

What am I doing? Winter storm in Dangast in the National Park Wadden Sea, high tide, gray, cold, windy, rain. And there I am… trying to shoot a long exposure image. Tripod, lens, camera, filter (big stopper)… dirty and wet. I got wet. 30 seconds in these weather conditions is a long time. I used every trick I had in mind to stabilize the camera. There is some blur… but I think that is OK. 1 image, back into the car. Hope you like it! 🙂

Rainbow Bridge

RSP - Reinhold Staden Photography - Rainbow Bridge

Mixed weather. Rain on one side, sunshine on the other side. While I was shooting this long exposure (180 sec) a rainbow appeared on the right side in the background for about 30 seconds. Enough to leave a trace in the image. A good start into your week! Smiles. Reinhold
