Tomorrow it will melt like ice in the sunshine. But today the wind still creates some beautiful ice art at our lake. This easter wind will remain for another night. And tomorrow we will have sunshine and temperatures above the freezing point. Happy days. Reinhold
In this moment I recognized where I live. Silence and emptiness all around me. I shared our lake with the Queen of the Lake. What a precious moment.
Second day of our trip to the Baltic Sea. East Germany. An island attached to the baltic sea coast line. Poel Island. We have no rocks in the National Park Wadden Sea / North Sea … at our local access points (at home). But they always create some foreground interest in a composition. It was a moment of silence, frozen silence. Happy days! Reinhold

A credit to my followers and to all people who comment and like my images. Thank you!
This is the second image of day 1. We had quiet heavy wind and waves. I decided to take a closer look at the rocks in the foreground of my first image. Actually… I always wanted to shoot an image like this. A simple and minimalistic composition with all the aspects of a long exposure image. 50mm, f5.6, 30 sec, ISO 200, 10 sec timer. Same camera, same lens. Same location. After that the light was gone. I did one other “test” shot. But I think of it more as an experiment than a planned composition. I add this one as well. Interested what you think about it! Happy days. Reinhold
This is the pier of my first image. This time straight from the front. 80mm, f5.6, 30 sec, ISO 200, 10 sec timer. Same camera, same lens. Same location.
We arrived late on Saturday afternoon. We took a 2 days trip to the Baltic Sea and stayed in a small but very comfortable hotel next to the beach. In the summer a very busy location. At this time of year very relaxed and not many other people around. I used the remaining light for the first shot (of two that day). Fuji X-T1, the Fuji 50-230mm consumer zoom, tripod, no filter, 75mm, f5.6, 30 seconds, auto ISO, 10 sec timer. I took 5 shots in these 2 days. I will keep one shot for my local “print” portfolio. The other 3 will be published until Friday this week. Happy days. Reinhold
Because we are living close to the sea, our lake is home of many seagulls. Some tourists feed these birds. If you go to the edge of one of the piers, they are actually waiting for it. But… not good for the lake in summer. Happy days! Reinhold
Another project for 2018 will be “Mirrored Landscapes”. This means that the left and right / or top and bottom of the image have an identical source image, with minor modifications to one of them. All work is done in LR and PS CC. Happy days! Reinhold

A new year – a new location, a new home… new opportunities. It was basically the last evening to get this shot, the tree will be gone soon. I was looking out of the window of our living room, saw the lake, saw the moon and thought… may be. This is a long exposure of 20 seconds, no filter. F9, 28mm. Thanks to the young man in blue jeans. Adds a bit of scale to the composition. Happy days. Reinhold
This is #1 of one of my 2018 photography projects. 2 images of 1 location. Focus is to show the same spot/object/person in 2 different compositions. This image has been taken in Krummhörn in the National Park Wadden Sea. The other side of the bay is already a different country. The Netherlands. Happy days. Reinhold
World Heritage and National Park. The coastline of North Germany. Wadden Sea or Wattenmeer. No big waves, a flat coastline, no rocks… but open space. As a photographer you always look for some interest in the foreground. So I am happy to find something like a fence. A fence into the sea? Now you have to know some additional facts to understand this. At our coastline, we have separate beaches for people with dogs and with no dogs. Sometimes the beaches are separated by a fence. Because of the flat coast line it would be easy to walk around the fence. And here is the solution. The fence is built into the sea. That makes it difficult to walk around the fence without getting your feet wet.
No… we have no other problems over here.
Hope you will still enjoy my image.
It is a long exposure using a LEE big stopper and a ND hard grad (0.6 / 2 stops) filter.
PS: I posted a similar image a while ago in color.
Today my Vodafone GigaCube arrived. Insert SIM Card, connect it to a plug (by the way anywhere in Germany), wait for the signal and enter the WiFi key. Online. Using the high speed mobile telephone network. Fortunately one of the transmitter stations of Vodafone is just round the corner. So I get a pretty strong signal and a fast internet access. Even in this remote location. I have to see how long the included data volume will last. 50 GB / per month is not really crazy. But if I use it in a sensible manner… it can be sufficient. We will see. And if work is down the line, I can buy additional data packages if this is really necessary. But for now I am happy to be back in the game.
Will post new stuff soon.
By the way: my iPhone is up and running too. Another 1.25 GB of mobile data volume.
Germany is really a „technology country“. <— Joke!!!!!!!!
A perfect moment at the coastline in the World Heritage and National Park Wadden Sea in North Germany. For more serene moments please follow this link: Serene
One of these typical days in the North of Germany. Clouds at the coastline of the National Park Wadden Sea. The returning tide has already reached the beach. Now it is time to walk a bit faster.
