A blossom from a plant in front of my house. I used my Wacom drawing tablet as a base and the top of a box as my background. I like this fresh composition. Spring time! Happy days. Stay safe and healthy. Reinhold

Found this one in our garden today. Couldn’t easily find a composition that worked. Hope you like this closeup. Happy days. Reinhold
Variations of an autumn leave. Happy days and happy Eastern. Reinhold
Sunlight… my one and only light source. Still experimenting with the extension tubes. May be I should go and look for a proper macro lens in the internet. The contact ban and the upcoming holidays are good reasons to invest in an extensive research activity. Happy days and stay safe and healthy. Reinhold
Fokus stacking… I shot 6 images of this object and changed the focus point for each shot, adjusting and fine tuning the focus for the selected area. I then imported these images via Lightroom into Photoshop where I did the alignment and blending of these images. After saving and returning to Lightroom I made some minor color adjustments to the final image and created a vignette to frame the center. I think this technique is essential for certain compositions… this one isn’t perfect, but I will keep trying.
Happy days. Reinhold
Variations of an object. Rather than posting 4 different objects I decided to stick to one object for today. I captured 4 close-ups. Tomorrow I will use a similar approach, but will use “photo stacking”.
Focus stacking is a digital image processing technique which combines multiple images taken at different focus distances to give a resulting image with a greater depth of field (DOF) than any of the individual source images. Wikipedia
Episode 3 of my new macro series „Looking closer“. Today I found 3 objects which caught my attention. Tomorrow I will concentrate on one object and create 3-4 variations of one item. Hope you are all healthy and in good shape. Happy days. Reinhold
Looking closer – part 2. During my daily walks with Boomer (my dog), I pick up certain items which I find interesting to bring home and to take a closer look. Here are the images of day 2.
Happy days. Reinhold
On Friday I received the macro extension tubes for my Fuji camera. I ordered two of them.
One with a focal length of 10mm, one with 16mm. You can use them separately or combine them.
They are mounted like a lense to the camera and then you mount the lens to the extension tube(s).
All camera settings are still working. But you better change from auto to manual focus.
They turn my kit zoom (18-55mm) into a sort of „macro“ lens.
And you can’t beat the price. They ship for 30€. Not the expensive Fuji originals. Mine are produced by Meike.
I will use these extensions to start my new series: Looking closer.
These are the first 4 images I captured with the new setup.
Happy days.
