Fineart Berlin

As ususal I couldn’t resist to do some Photoshop manipulations to my recent Berlin images. You know this feeling? You see a composition, you know how you want it to look. But there are disturbing objects in the frame, there are missing objects in the frame. Now this is the time when I start working with my MAC, my Wacom tablet and Lightroom and Photoshop. And to be true. It is not always the result which creates the fun factor. It is the process creating an image the way I see it in my imagination.

    • Hi Julie, as with MS Word and Excel. PS has hundreds of features, but on a daily basis you only use a few of them. I think Lightroom already covers a lot of them. I use PS only if I want to be “super creative”. I think if we sit together for 2-3 hours in a virtual room, I could show you all the features I use to do my work. PS has a pretty confusing user interface. Otherwise it is simple to use. And yes, I am using a Wacom tablet since a few years. I use it also to work with Lightroom. It has replaced the mouse for PS + LR. I would not work without it any more . But it took me a few weeks to get used to it. Let me know if I could be of any help regarding PS. May be via direct mail or Google hangouts. Happy days and smiles. Reinhold

      • Hey Reinhold .. so good to hear from you. I have had several lessons on PS but it’s the layers that get me. Mind you, I really enjoy Lightroom. I have heard about the Wacom tablet but haven’t seen one in use .. must watch out for it. You are so kind offering your help … thank you! I suspect I will no doubt leave PS in the must do one day … basket! Lol

      • Layers are key to PS. But with several lessons you will be able to master PS soon, Julie. Could be that I have mentioned this YouTube channel before. Aaron Nace / PHLEARN. Tons of free video’s. All about PS. I have learned a lot and still learning from him. The big change in PS came with the Wacom tablet. It is so much easier to work with PS using a tablet. Selections, brushes, dodge and burn, … nearly everything is so much faster to apply. And it feels natural… like painting. So don’t give up if you really need it. Otherwise LR will do everything you need to add the toppings to your beautiful images. Best. Reinhold

    • Thank you, Sherry. I thought that the head behind the cloud is a funny idea. With all the traffic floating around the monument each day. 🙂 Happy days. Reinhold
