666

According to the last book in the Bible, 666 is the number, or name, of the wild beast with seven heads and ten horns that comes out of the sea. This beast is a symbol of the worldwide political system, which rules over “every tribe and people and tongue and nation.”  The name 666 identifies the political system as a gross failure in God’s sight. – Wikipedia

Do they mean the North Sea? And what happens if 666 is combined with 66 (see beach chair in the background)? Now it is time for you story tellers and fiction writers…

  1. There are so many interesting things about this shot, Reinhold. That striking sky (did you use a filter to get that blueish silver tone?); that sun; the silhouetted trees in the horizon; the chair in the foreground and its shadow adding visual tension, are all treats to the eyes. And the second chair, the numbers of course, the light, the texture of the ground, all add lots of visual interest to an already great image. As for the horror story of the numbers, not my cup of tea… 🙂 But I’m sure you will get some great feedback and cool stories on that!

    • I should have used a filter. But last year (time of this shot) I did not use a filter holder, as I do now. The dynamic range of the Nikon D800, which I was using at that time, has a dynamic range of a few stops. So, I metered the exposure pointing at the sun/sky and recovered the details in the foreground in LR. That is the only advantage which my D800 had over my Fuji gear. The dynamic range of the X100 and X-T1 is smaller, so filter make more sense to create a balanced image. But the decision to use filter makes a tripod absolutely necessary.
